Our recent converting machines have incorporated sophisticated computer control programs, replacing manual adjustments of critical machine settings with servo controlling systems.
A natural progression of this has been to automate slitting knife positional adjustments with subsequent speedier precision pattern changes. It can be used for tangential rotary shear slitters, both top and bottom knives being adjusted, with knife pressure applied and removed automatically, and top knives disengaged as required. Minimum slit width is 80 mm.
Crush cut and razor slitting can be similarly accommodated with simpler systems, minimum pitch being 25mm.

The system has been designed to favour multiple blade set-ups, at a realistic price, employing only one driven element which repositions the knives sequential far faster than the operator can change the rewind cores.
Typically the reset programme for a 20 blade rotary shear set up would be 5 minutes, razor or crush cut would be 2 minutes.
Operation can be from pre-programmed values or allow the operator to enter a pattern and display the arrangement on screen, ensuring its feasibility relative to trims and rewind positions before implementing. The system can be adapted to extremes of environment from clean room conditions to glass fibre matt.
